If you are like me, then you like costume parties and like to make your own costumes. The costumes you can buy or rent are not really that good. They don't fit right and they don't look that realistic. Making a costume from scratch usually takes me anything from two weeks to two months. First you need to study the original suit and then make plans accordingly. For example if I want to dress as apirate, then I search the library to see how pirates actually dressed in their time, instead of buying an eye-patch and a plastic hook. That attention to detail is the reason that I win so many prizes for the best costume in the party. People often come to me in costume parties and ask me where I bought the costume from and can't believe when I tell them that I made it myself. Now days my friends want me to make costumes and I am glad to do it.
The attention to detail does not stop with the costumes. It is not enough that I search for realistic materials. Everything needs to be perfect. I guess I am a perfectionist when it comes to costumes. I have a good example from a recent party where I went dressed as a cat. First needed to find the perfect material for a cat suit. Now I am not talking about a catwoman suit (a leather suit that was in Batman), but a suit that makes me look like a real cat. I came close to skinning my neighbor's cat before I found a synthetic material that looked like cat's hair. Then I needed to make sure that my face looked like the face of cat. That means I had to put on fake lashes and makeup. I even went and bought yellow contacts lenses online so that even my eyes would match cat's eyes. The yellow contacts really made the suit and got me plenty of compliments.
